Zambia will be aiming for glory this weekend when the Motocross of African Nations gets underway in Namibia.
Speaking to one love radio news, Zambia Motor Sport association, Media officer, Chalo Mfune the competition has attracted riders from 10 African countries, including defending champions South Africa.
Mr. Mfune said Zambia has assembled a strong team featuring some of the countryβs top motocross talent.
He said Caitlin from Mkushi, who is the reigning African Champion and wears the number-one plate, will represent Zambia alongside eight-time female champion Leah Heygate.
Mr. Mfune said in the MX1 category, KTM factory rider Scott Heygate will be targeting maximum points for Zambia, while veteran rider Stewart Parks will lead the countryβs charge in the Masters class.
He said other Zambian riders competing at the championship include Mathew Inetown in MX2, Janko De Beer in the 50cc category, Gabriel Selcato in MX2 and Heinrich Fuchs in the 125cc class.
Mr. Mfune said the competition is expected to provide a stern test for the Zambian riders as they battle against some of the continentβs best motocross competitors.
The event will conclude on Sunday, August 30, with a prize-giving ceremony.
