A 41-year-old woman of Kamunza Compound in Choma District is nursing injuries after she was allegedly assaulted by her 46-year-old husband, a serving Zambia Police officer.
The incident occurred on Sunday, September 6, 2026, around 18:00 hours at the coupleβs home following a domestic dispute.
Neighbours who heard the confrontation and the womanβs cries intervened and stopped the altercation.
The victimβs 66-year-old mother later reported the matter at Choma Central Police Station around 19:00 hours on the same day.
The victim sustained a cut on the forehead, a swollen face and general body pains and was referred to Choma General Hospital for medical examination and treatment.
Southern Province Police Commanding Officer Moono Namalongo confirmed the matter and says the suspect has not yet been arrested as investigations are ongoing.
Mr. Namalongo said the Police will not shield any officer found wanting and will ensure that anyone found culpable is dealt with in accordance with the law.
